Sariel was born... or created, however you see it... with a pen in her hand, so to speak. She was tasked as the Chronicler of Heaven... the Historian, and so it has always been her job to observe and write down every little detail. Of the seven archangels, Sariel has always been the quiet one, always blending into the background because she needed to pay attention to everything that was going on. And when she wasn't observing and writing things down, she was spending most of her time in Heaven's library, going over the records and making corrections, perfecting the books for any who might come to read them.

When the war broke out in Heaven and Lucifer was cast out, it was the most important event that Sariel had ever kept on record. She stayed out of the way of the entire thing, and keeps those particular books hidden away somewhere known only to her and God Himself. There are small details about that event that she has kept in her own mind for a long time now... That's the thing about Sariel. Most of the time, they don't even realize she's watching... that she's picking out and memorizing the details. Most of the time, they don't realize that she knows secrets that no one has ever told her.

When Azrael proposed moving the academy to Purgatory, she agreed with his logic, though she was reluctant to leave the sanctity of Heaven. Now she does her best to teach the new angelic recruits the history of Heaven, including a less detailed version of the war with Lucifer, hoping to prevent a similar event from ever happening again..
